Today we began a mini challenge with hexbugs. The final challenge will be this Thursday in class. Students may bring in any materials that they would like to use. The requirements for the challenge are linked below:

Today we had our first round of discussions of our science fiction novels!
Students filled out the handout linked below and submitted it for a grade. I also took up notebooks to grade. DISCUSSION ONE HANDOUT Happy Weekend! Today we took notes on Plate Tectonics. The notes are below. Also, please go through slides 21-30 on the slide show linked.
SLIDE SHOW In your Science Notebook, put the following in your Table of Contents: 10/24 Plate Tectonics (page number) Then add the following notes: Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics Notes Continental Drift Theory: Idea that the continents float on the surface of the earth on a sea of magma and are always slowly moving Plate Tectonics: An update of the continental drift theory that states the entire crust of the earth is made up of plates that are crashing into each other and spreading apart Evidence of Plate Tectonics
Students are doing a great job on their presentations for The Sixth Extinction. The last three chapters will present tomorrow.
I will be out of town Thurs and Fri this week for a conference, so I wanted to go ahead and post what we will be doing in class those days. Don't forget to have your science fiction novel in class on Friday. This will be checked by Terry for a HW grade! THURSDAY: We will be watching the following BBC Documentary: First Life FRIDAY: We will be reading the following essay by Neil Gaiman as an introduction to our unit on science fiction novels: Intro to Fahrenheit 451 In your science notebook, answer the following questions in complete sentences.
