Here is a link to the requirements: Disease Fact Sheet Examples of Fact Sheets: Zika Chlamydia Tuberculosis Jason will be out of town the week of March 5th, and the fantastic Skyla will be subbing! During this week, students will be working on the following:
1. March Mammal Madness Research! All students will be participating by filling out a bracket for this exciting and informative competition! In addition to filling out a bracket, students will also become an expert on one of the 65 species. Below, find links to a website on the competition, the bracket, the list of who is researching which animal, and the sheets that they will need to do. Have fun! 1. March Mammal Madness Website and Bracket 2. Who Is Researching which Animal 3. Research Sheet 4. Debate Sheet The bracket is due Monday March 12th. The research and debate information is due Wed. March 7th at the end of class. 2. Students will watch the Nova episode called Calling the Shots, linked below. Lastly, have them put at the top of the paper what percent of their disease book they have finished. Link to the storywww.tor.com/2013/07/11/the-plague/ We have begun our chemistry unit! To kick it off, students will be creating their own periodic table of a topic of their choosing. The requirements are in the handout below. The final product is due Wednesday Jan. 17th.
Periodic Project Handout Today we read the fascinating story "standing Room Only" by Karen Joy Fowler - linked below.
HW: after reading the story, in your science notebook, write one paragraph explaining which moment in history you would like to travel back to and see first hand. This will be graded! Test on electricity tomorrow! I have linked the study guide below in case you lost yours or need another copy.
STUDY GUIDE Great job on flashlight presentations today!
Just a heads up that you have a test on electricity on Thursday. The test will cover the following material: 1. Electricity Vocabulary 2. Three Parts of a Battery 3. Circuit Vocabulary 4. Circuit Drawing Symbols 5. Ohm's Law Math Problems (V=IR) 6. Voltage Math Problems Related to Parallel and Series Circuits 7. Advantages and Drawbacks of Series and Parallel Circuits 8. General Questions about the Book You Read We will practice for the test tomorrow! For SciFi Friday, we read the recently Nebula-Award Nominated story "Wlcome to the Medical Clinic at the Interplanetary Relay Station. Hours Since the Last Patient Death: 0" by Caroline M. Yoachim.
The story is linked below. If you missed class, please read the story and then email Jason a quick review of it. What did you like or not like about it? What other science fiction that we studied does it remind you of? Happy Weekend! Link to Story Today students received supplies so that they can start building their own flashlights!
