8th Grade Science
Today we paced out our disease books and answered some preliminary questions about them. This was turned in for a grade. A copy of the handout is below in case you were absent and need to make it up.

The disease unit has begun! Students received their books to read today or have committed to getting a copy to read asap. We will pace out the books on Friday, and their first round of reading will be due next Friday the 3rd.
Also, I introduced them to an online game to try out called Pandemic (the app version is called Plague). Here is a link to the game: Pandemic They can also download the app called Plague, Inc. The game is a lot of fun in which students take on the role of a disease pathogen and try to wipe out the entire human race. Have a great day! Happy 364 days until Valentine's Day!
Element book presentations were completed today. They were awesome! Chemistry test tomorrow! See Monday's blog entry if you need to access the study guide again. I can think of no better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than through chemistry! Student presentations on elements today were excellent and so much fun to watch. We will finish these presentations tomorrow.

Today, we watched part of the Nova episode called Hunting the Elements to increase our understanding of chemistry and the periodic table.
