Hello Everyone!
Students are wrapping up building their roller coasters this week. They are looking awesome! Please come out on Fall Family Night to check them out. I will be out of town for a conference on Thursday and Friday. Below are the things that we will be doing: THURSDAY: Students will finish roller coasters and set them up for Fall Family Night FRIDAY: For SciFi Friday, we will be reading our third story by Roald Dahl "Lamb to Slaughter" linked below. Lamb to Slaughter After reading the story, students will choose one of the two questions below to answer in their science notebooks:
Happy Friday the 13th Eve!
Roller Coasters are well under way for being completed. Keep up the great work! Students are deep into planning and designing their roller coaster models! Below is the handout for how to plan and what is required in each model.
Roller Coasters must be finished by October 19th for Fall Family Night! Roller Coaster Design Handout I apologize for not updating in a week. Last week was a bit hectic.
Today, students filled out a quick reflection on the trip to Dollywood. If you were absent today, please see Jason for one to do. It is also linked below. Dollywood Reflection Students also received a grade sheet updating where they are at in their science grades to help them prepare for student-led conferences. HW: None! Today, we dug deep into the story "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury (linked below). The tale is a cautionary story of what happens if we become too dependent on technology. We also watched the episodic version of it from the series The Ray Bradbury Theater that can be viewed for free on Amazon for Amazon Prime Members.
"The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury Homework: Finish roller coaster research by Monday! Today we continued our roller coaster research. Please see yesterday's entry for the specifics.
HW: Roller Coaster presentations will begin Monday! Today students received research sheets to place in their science notebooks and begin researching a roller coaster of their choice. The handout is below:
Roller Coaster Research Sheet Presentations on the coasters are due Monday. Today we continued our study of the parts and elements of roller coasters. We took notes based on the slides below.
Elements of Roller Coasters Slideshow No HW for tonight! If you missed class today, please copy the notes you missed from a classmate. :-) Today we finished our study of Ray Bradbury's "All Summer in a Day" and then began studying the elements go into the design of a roller coaster. We will continue those notes this week!
Stay safe and dry. |
