For Sci Fi Friday, we read the story "The Nostalgist" by Daniel H. Wilson and then watched a short film based on the story. Links to both are below.
For HW, due Tuesday, students need to write a paragraph or bulleted list of which version of the story they prefer with specific reasons why. This should be done in the Sci Fi Friday section of their notebooks on the next available page. Also for HW, wind turbine blades are due Wednesday. "The Nostalgist" story "The Nostalgist" movie Today, as part of our study of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, we began a wind turbine blade design competition. On Wednesday of next week, students will enter their blades into a competition to see which ones will generate the most electricity on a wind turbine model. A special award will be given to the most stylish design as well!
Today we took notes about how electricity is generated and makes it to homes on the power grid. If you missed today, make sure to get notes from a classmate!
Today we returned to Sci Fi Friday! Students read the intriguing story "The Last Wave" by Zimbabwean writer Ivor W. Hartmann. A link to the story is below:
